Woman's Chatelaine Bag

Whiting and Davis Company (Plainville, Massachusetts, founded 1876)
Whiting and Davis, the most famous maker of metal mesh bags, produced this silver bag that is worn suspended from the waistband by the hook at the top. Called chatelaine bags, these were very popular in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
