Rather than recording a specific event, this scene of a brass band parading along the Yokohama waterfront serves as a symbolic representation of Westerners in Yokohama, emphasized by the inclusion of the flags of all five treaty nations (from left to right): France, Russia, United States, England, and the Netherlands.
