Dish

Late 15th - early 16th century
Artist/maker unknown, Iranian or Persian
Fritware is composed primarily of quartz and small amounts of fine white clay and frit, a glassy substance that helps the ceramic body fuse at a relatively low temperature. Potters in Iran began using the fritware mixture around the twelfth century to imitate highly sought-after porcelain wares from China.
