"J. (Série Lang)" Armchair

Designed 1987
Designed by Philippe Starck (French, born 1949) Made by Driade, Fossadello di Caorso, Piacenza, Italy (1968–present)
This chair was originally designed for the office of French Minister of Culture Jack Lang. It combines the volume and upholstery of a classic leather club armchair with a weaponlike metal leg. "Violence is a part of life," says Starck. "Contemporary furniture should mirror that reality."
