Dish (one of a pair)

This dish was exported to Europe through the Dutch East India Company, and the gilded ormolu mount was produced at a European furniture studio after it arrived. Dishes like this were popularly used in Europe as bowls for sweets or fruits throughout the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
