Artist/maker unknown, Italian
The bowl of this sallet is struck twice at the rear with a maker's mark (the letter S within the letter A under an open coronet) of an unknown master armorer. This shapely helmet is of a type worn by both armored horsemen and soldiers fighting on foot.
