In this work, Peggy Bacon portrays one of the many lively parties at the New York home of art patron Juliana Force, who dances with her partner in the upper right. Force actively supported young artists like Bacon and her friends. She served as the director of the Whitney Studio (1914), the Friends of the Young Artists (1915-17), the Whitney Studio Club (1918-28), the Whitney Studio Galleries (1928-30), and the Whitney Museum of American Art (1931-48).
