Bracelet

c. 1986
Tone Vigeland (Norwegian, 1938–2024)
Tone Vigeland’s bracelet proves that scale does not dictate power. Developed through experimentation and a love of process, the piece is composed of tiny cylindrical spirals attached to a mesh substructure. The bracelet itself is a closed form whereby the entire surface, encrusted by the spirals, results in a unified composition. Tightly wound, the spirals exude potential energy and dynamism that is multiplied when they are placed tightly together.
