Dinner Plate

c. 1813
Attributed to Dihl et Guérhard (Duc d'Angoulême's factory), Paris (1781–1828)
This plate was originally part of a large dinner service that was commissioned by John A. Brown (1788–1872) of Philadelphia, perhaps on the occasion of his marriage to Isabella Patrick in 1813. Brown was the son of a prominent and highly successful Baltimore merchant who had emigrated from Ireland in 1800.
