Cow

Early 19th century
Artist/maker unknown, Dutch
Beginning in about 1750, members of the dairy guild in the city of Delft paraded their finest cows, attired with flowers, through the streets. It is possible that this annual festivity inspired Delft potters to produce figures of cows such as the one seen here.
