Pastille Burner

c. 1815
Made by the Wedgwood factory, Etruria, England (1759–present)
The shape of this pastille burner (used for scenting the air) may be based on a measured drawing of an ancient form, known as a kantharos, illustrated in plate 40 of Collection of Etruscan, Greek and Roman Antiquities from the Cabinet of the Honble. Wm. Hamilton, Vol. II.
