“It’s a Wrap!” Holidays 2024 Décor Project

For the holiday season, we invited our 2024 Heritage Month Artist Collaborators to design artwork for festive wrapping paper to help us decorate the halls of our main building with gift-inspired holiday installations. The artworks explore their personal interpretations of the holidays as well as themes examined in our current exhibition, The Time is Always Now: Artists Reframe the Black Figure.

We welcome you to come experience all season long the exhibition, the holidays, and the artwork produced by our Heritage Month Artist Collaborators.

We also invite you to come revel in the season at our “’It’s a Wrap! Holiday Celebration,” a special Friday Night Lounge scheduled for December 13.

Marian Bailey

Artist collaborator for: Pride Month

Marian’s work explores themes of memory, history, and identity and is characterized by her use of bold colors and dynamic color blocking. She draws on personal and collective histories, investigating how narratives are formed and shared through generations.

Manuela Guillén

Artist collaborator for: Women’s History Month

Manuela is a Philadelphia artist whose murals and illustrations celebrate her Cuban and Salvadorian heritage. Her vibrant works address sociopolitical and environmental themes, fostering community through art education and shared creativity.

Peri Law

Artist collaborator for: Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Peri is a printmaker and teaching artist living in Philadelphia. Her work is heavily influenced by the art historical canon, imagining traditional Asian art through the lens of the contemporary diaspora while exploring her own multiracial heritage and multigenerational memory.

Cindy Lozito

Artist collaborator for: Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Cindy is an illustrator, muralist, and cartoonist based in South Philadelphia by way of Queens, New York. Her work draws on human connection, memory, identity, and her endless curiosity to illustrate stories that bring us closer together.

Nazeer Sabree

Artist collaborator for: Black History Month

Nazeer is a visual artist from West Philadelphia. His practice blends traditional techniques with contemporary elements and is rooted in what he calls the pursuit of healing: an exploration of identity, belonging, and unaddressed mental health in the Black community.

Tim Gleeson

Designer and Fabricator

Named Philadelphia magazine’s best contractor in the city in 2022, Tim Gleeson’s specialty projects are on display all around the city—and in our The Time Is Always Now exhibition store. Though his focus is primarily retail and commercial, his projects can also be found beautifying residential homes throughout the tri-state area.
