Admission Ticket to Peale's Museum

This ticket was created by Charles Willson Peale for admission to his Philadelphia museum. Opened in 1786, Peale’s Museum displayed portraits of eminent Americans alongside models of the latest inventions and real specimens from nature, including fossils; preserved animals, birds, and insects; and the skeleton of a mastodon, a large, extinct animal resembling an elephant.
