Special family events showcase local and nationally recognized performance groups for an experience that combines the magic of the visual and performing arts. All ages will be thrilled by dances, crafts, stories, and songs highlighting different cultures and traditions from all over the world.

Free after Museum admission

Learn about the abstract art of Armenian-born artist Arshile Gorky as well as traditional Armenian art techniques. Create your own masterpieces in the Make-and-Take Workshop and enjoy interactive guided tours of Arshile Gorky: A Retrospective, a special exhibition on view through January 10, 2010.

Asian New Year Party: The Year of the Tiger

Free after Museum admission

The party begins with a traditional New Year's Dragon Dance parade through the Museum by local Philadelphia dancers. The Chinese Theatre Works will perform Tiger Tales, a Chinese folktale told through a unique form of shadow puppetry, and artists will demonstrate the art of calligraphy. Audiences are invited to create lanterns and scroll paintings based on the Museum's collection of Asian art.
