Two Hands

Modeled 1904; cast 1925
Auguste Rodin (French, 1840–1917) Cast by the founder Alexis Rudier, Paris (1874–1952)

A plaster version of this sculpture at the Musée Rodin in Paris is inscribed "Hands of Rodin and Rose Beuret," suggesting that the clasped hands are in fact those of the sculptor and his longtime companion. They married in 1916, shortly before their deaths.
