"In arranging my new apartment I see your paintings again with so much pleasure.... There's such a note of truth, of real countryside in each one."
Letter to van Gogh from his brother Theo, Paris, March 16, 1889
"I've looked most attentively at your works since we parted; first at your brother's and then at the Independents exhibition. I offer you my sincere compliments, and for many artists you are the most remarkable in the exhibition. With things from nature you are the only one there who thinks."
Letter to van Gogh from artist Paul Gauguin, Paris, March 20, 1890

This was fabulous. this was my first time here. private tours are the best way to learn about the paintings. The paintings spoke to you.

What a wonderful exhibit. Thank you to all of the private collectors and the museums around the world for sharing these amazing works with us. And to the Van Gogh Museum at Amsterdam: seeing Almond Blossoms in real life was an unmatchable experience; thank you for the opportunity.

Horrified that a guard yelled at me for making a few compositional notations in my small sketch book. NO SKETCHING she said. Would someone please explain this to me?

It was nice. The commonly known sunflower painting was clearly not real, as it said "Vincent," rather than "For Amy" on the middle of the vase.(Dr. Who)

I was fascinated by the expressed joy and happiness demonstrated in the painting Van Gogh created for his namesake nephew, Vincent. Absolutely enchanting!

Loved the couple in the forest...I didn't find it sad, but rather romantic. Also loved the last painting in the exhibit that he gifted to his nephew and namesake...beautiful blue!!!
