The Modern Still Life: Drawings, Watercolors, and Collages from the Collection
June 20, 1992 - September 6, 1992
Pablo Picasso worked within an early modern tradition that, following Cézanne, found the still life the ideal tool for exploring spatial
relationships. In conjunction with the major exhibition,
Picasso and Things: The Still Lifes of Picasso, the Museum will display over 50 works
from the collections to demonstrate how different modern artists have approached the still life. Included are early works by Cézanne and
Pissarro as well as drawings, watercolors and collages by Picasso's contemporaries such as Georges Braque, Juan Gris, Paul Klee, Henri
Matisse, Diego Rivera and Charles Demuth.
