1980
Marcy Hermansader (American, born 1951)
Hermansader's work shows an interest in art forms traditionally considered women's handiwork-sewing, weaving, and textile design. This is expressed in her colorful use of pattern, flattened perspectives, and stylized forms. Her imagery is intensely personal. The horses drawn on the pages of one of the books refer to her years spent working at a racetrack, while the map of Africa relates to her interest in African and African-American culture.
