Francis Richardson, Sr. (American, 1681–1729)

This tankard is among the earliest Philadelphia works made by Francis Richardson known to have survived. It was made for William Branson of Philadelphia and descended to the Lardner family upon the marriage of Branson’s daughter, Elizabeth, to Lynford Lardner in 1749.
