Printed long after Bruegel’s death, this commemorative portrait shows the artist’s image surrounded by a frame above a sarcophagus. The figures of Minerva, Mercury, and Fame around the frame extol Bruegel’s artistic virtuosity, still celebrated in the seventeenth century.
