It's Later Than You Think

1945
Rockwell Kent (American, 1882–1971) Printed by George C. Miller (American, 1894–1965)
Kent wrote that this lithograph, which he has here inscribed “Wake up, America!”, was intended “to call attention to the decay of the structure of democracy that threatens while the citizen sleeps.” The initials inscribed on the post behind the sleeping allegory of the American man are those of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.
