Moonshine, Ireland

1926
Rockwell Kent (American, 1882–1971)
Kent and his second wife, Frances, spent their honeymoon on the northwest coast of Ireland in 1926. In this scene of bootleggers distilling whiskey on the Irish coast at night, Kent has cropped the image to exclude the moon itself while capturing a broad swath of reflected moonlight on the surface of the sea.
