La Chasse du Chevreuil

1725
Jean-Baptiste Oudry (French, 1686–1755) Published by Gabriel Huquier (French, 1695–1772)
Like most successful painters in eighteenth-century France, Jean-Baptiste Oudry made very few prints himself, despite his talents as an etcher. A leading painter of animals and hunting scenes, Oudry's out-put of prints was limited almost exclusively to the 1720s, after which he devoted himself to making paintings for the king and designs for the royal tapestry works in Beauvais.
