The Sketch Class

1919
Peggy Bacon (American, 1895–1987)
Peggy Bacon taught herself printmaking in 1917, and this drypoint is among the first she executed. This work-with its flat forms, areas of light and dark, and emphasis on patterning and crosshatching-exhibits the more abstract and simplified treatment of her early imagery.
