Stand

1709-1710
Made by Elie Pacot (French, 1657–1721)
This stand was part of a twenty-one-piece surtout de table, an ensemble of decorative pieces for the center of a table. The shapes and sizes of the various components made it possible to arrange them according to the size and style of the table to be decorated. They would have been filled with bread, fruit, or flowers depending on the occasion.
