Subhuti and Khedrup, Previous Incarnations of the Panchen Lama

Subhuti, who was a water genie (naga) in one of his former births, is considered the first incarnation of the Tashilunpo Lamas of Tibet. He is shown on the left receiving the homage of the water genies, whom he protects against the attack of sun birds (garudas).
