Beaker

c. 1710
Artist/maker unknown, Chinese, for export to the European market
While the decoration on this beaker, known in Europe as famille verte (green family), is based on that of Chinese porcelain of the Kangxi period (1662–1722), its shape is modeled on a European drinking vessel, perhaps one in glass that was shipped to China by European traders for the purpose of being copied in porcelain.
