Plate with a Raised Central Medallion

1724-1738
Made by De Witte Ster (The White Star), Delft, Netherlands , (1660–1804) Under Cornelis Brouwer (active at De Witte Ster (The White Star) 1724–1738)
The decoration on this plate was inspired by the style of porcelain produced during the Chinese Kangxi period (1662-1722), known for its rich ornamentation. Its form, however, shows the influence of French silver trays of the eighteenth century. Delft potters often combined Eastern and Western styles to create distinctive works.
