Inscription, Record of Visit to Wu Family Shrines

1792
Qian Yong (Chinese, 1759–1844)
Ch'ien Yung was one of many Qing dynasty calligraphers who became fascinated with and studied the Chinese scripts found on ancient bronzes and engraved stones. This rubbing of a tablet engraved with Ch'ien's calligraphy shows characters modeled in the style of the elegant official script calligraphy of the Eastern Han dynasty (25- 220).
