Vase

1868-1875
Fukagawa Eizaemon VIII (Japanese, 1833–1889)
The Centennial award judges noted that some of the porcelain vases made by Fukagawa were "very remarkable as pieces of potting on a most unusual scale. The decoration also is splendid and effective." The use of the pink overglaze color was a new technique introduced by the Fukagawa potters in the late nineteenth century.
