Covered Jar

Late 19th century
Kinkōzan Sōbē VI (Japanese, 1824–1884)
This vase shows the application of cloisonné enamels to a ceramic body. The innovative technique was relatively short-lived because of its complexity and the relatively dull surface appearance it produced.
