This wax miniature is remarkable for its lifelike modeling in high relief. The sitter, shown in a three-quarters view unusual for this type of sculpture, wears a typical outfit of men’s clothing from the first half of the 1800s, with each layer clearly visible. The portrait is signed "Alfons Geiger" but there are no other known works by this artist.
