Though the artist of this miniature is unknown, the inscription on the back provides information about the sitter. Translated from Czech, it reads “Portrait of Lieutenant Růžičky ca. 1835, who died in about 1880 as a retired major in Prague at U Palmů no. 312/II.” U Palmů refers to an address in the center of the city.
