"The Hunt" Jacket

1984
Jane Kosminsky de Filippis (American, born 1948)
Jane Kosminsky DeFilippis fell in love with leather during the 1960s and went on to study fashion design at New York’s Traphagen School of Design during the 1970s. This jacket was conceived as an abstract geometric form. For the artist: "The mathematical aspects of creating make me feel connected. It satisfies something in my being. With geometry you can expose your soul without explanation. Math is the core of everything—nature, music, art. It’s in our very DNA, and it’s what I like to use in my art to connect with the viewer." The jacket was originally owned by Elton John, who purchased it from Julie: Artisans’ Gallery.
