Taca Sui (Chinese, born 1984)

Taca Sui is a contemporary photographer whose works show deep affiliations with China’s past. He came upon this dramatic landscape while traveling to places famous for their ancient stele (stone markers). Unlike the documentary photography often taken by visitors when viewing such sites, Taca Sui focuses on overlooked or unseen aspects of the terrain. In this image he captures the otherworldly atmosphere of a grotto at Feilai Peak in Hangzhou.
