As one of the foremost practitioners of Op Art, Bridget Riley explored the optical effects of geometric patterns, often creating illusions in her work. Here she heightened the illusory effect by printing on Plexiglas—a highly innovative material for art-making in the 1960s—exploiting its transparency to create an image floating in space.
