Grand Central and Scarf

2003
Linda J. Mendelson (American, born 1940)
Linda J. Mendelson is a master at creatively incorporating text and typography in her work. This coat was inspired by the artist’s nostalgia for the long running radio series Grand Central Station that aired from 1937 to 1954. For the artist the biggest challenge in constructing this coat was programming the knitting machine so the text was legible as it followed the curve of the hem.
