Untitled (girls' faces flashed in bus window)

1973
Mark Cohen (American, born 1943)
Many street photographers find that flash is ideally suited for capturing the movement, pace, and sensibility of the modern world. Mark Cohen uses his flash to make sense of this chaos, isolating discrete and seemingly incidental moments that might otherwise pass us by. He also embraces the intrusiveness inherent to flash photography, approaching his subjects without their permission, moving in close and taking a picture.
