Woman's Short Evening Dress

Fall/Winter 2007
Designed by Michael Kors (American, born 1959)
When he founded his own label in 1981 at age twenty-two, Michael Kors dreamed of designing chic, luxurious American sportswear. A self-confessed lover of uniting extremes, his easy-to-wear clothes continue to be at once minimalist and opulent. His daytime looks feature garments such as cashmere tank tops; this short evening dress has the relaxed quality of a T-shirt but is shaped by darts to flatter the body. The stylized leopard-fur pattern was made by stitching prestrung sequins along the pattern's contours; the placement of the sequins in varying directions reflects light differently, while piling them more densely in some areas gives dimension.
