Woman's Evening Dress

Resort 2009
Designed by Diane Von Furstenberg (American (born Belgium), born 1946)
Diane von Furstenberg, a member of the international jet-set in the late 1960s, was inspired to create the clothes she wanted to wear but couldn't find. She had no formal fashion training but instinctively understood the needs of modern, liberated women. In the 1970s her jersey wraparound dresses- chic, flattering and easy to wear-became a marketing phenomenon. Von Furstenberg has stated, "I design a line the way I pack a suitcase," visualizing outfits for different occasions that unite fashion and function. From her La Petite Valise collection, this luminous version of her iconic wrap dress offers maximum impact with minimum fuss.
