Woman's Coat

1985
Designed by Giorgio di Sant'Angelo (American (born Argentina), 1933–1989)
Born in Italy and raised in Argentina, Giorgio di Sant’Angelo immigrated to the United States in the early 1960s. Within a decade his individualistic designs were widely acclaimed. Free-spirited clothing inspired by ethnic and hippie styles was followed by modern, versatile, and body-conscious stretch knits. Sant’Angelo’s sense of drama, love of vibrant colors, and use of unique textiles continued in his later designs. The textural mohair of this unstructured coat has been hand painted to produce irregular, overlapping blocks of dynamic colors.
