The Rape of Persephone

According to Greek mythology Persephone, the daughter of Zeus (ruler of heaven) and Demeter (the harvest goddess) is abducted by her uncle Hades, king of the underworld. She is obliged to stay half the year there as his queen, but is allowed to spend the other half reunited with her mother in the world above.
