Bō II (Full Moon II)

2003
Fukami Sueharu (Japanese, born 1947)
Fukami injects liquid clay at high pressure into a plaster mold to produce bold and dynamic forms such as this one, with its curved surface and precise lines. He pairs this modern technique and form with a historic "celadon" glaze. Celadon glazes have long been admired for their translucent, subtle gray-green and blue-green colors that arise from iron oxide in either the clay or the glaze.
