Sang-Hyeob Lee, who lives and works in Korea, is one of the most exciting silversmiths to have emerged in recent years. He creates all of his art from single sheets of silver to make it seamless, exhibiting superb craftsmanship.
The shapes of his pieces are indebted to those of traditional ceramic vessels, as evident from this example. Its small mouth and broad-shouldered body pay homage to the understated elegance of vases produced in Korea in the 1100s–1300s, called celadon vases due to their translucent blue-green "celadon" glazes.
