John Moore (American, born 1941)
John Moore created View during a four-week visit to Tel Aviv, Israel---one of four American artists invited by the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. In this radiant, sharp-focus, post-industrial urban landscape, which he painted from the top of the Mercure Marina Hotel, Moore captures the city's distinctive natural and built environment. The artist said of his time in Israel, "I was aware that much of what I was seeing might appear inconsequential; yet the longer I looked, the clutter, the density, the texture and the dusty desert light appeared elating, mysterious and drenched with meaning and beauty. It has never left my mind."
