The "Cure" Craze presents a critique of a number of medical systems and remedies employed by nineteenth-century fringe groups: hydropathy, electricity, faith healing, massage, astrology, curing illness by filtering light through blue glass, and, of course, patent medicines. Hamilton's satire depicts the ultimate users of such remedies as asses, and the merchant receiving the money from the treatments as Dr. Quack.
