Menu for a Farewell Dinner

1929
Rockwell Kent (American, 1882–1971)
Following his shipwreck and sojourn in Greenland, Kent spent the autumn of 1929 in Copenhagen, Denmark, working on illustrations for several book projects. This menu for Kent’s farewell dinner in Copenhagen includes an amusing depiction of the artist and his wife Frances (along with sled dogs and kayak) being blasted home by a giant canon.
