This preliminary study for a print of the same title shows the twinkling Chicago skyline viewed eastward from Wacker Drive. Crossing the foreground is the Wells Street elevated train. The featured skyscrapers include (from left) the Medinah Athletic Club, 1929; Wrigley Building, 1924; Mather Tower, 1928; Carbide and Carbon Building, 1929; Pure Oil Building, 1926.
