Political Speaker

1920
Conrad Felixmüller (German, 1897–1977)
In these two woodcuts, Conrad Felixmüller conveys an image of an impassioned speaker for the rights of workers. The distorted forms exploit the vivid graphic potential of the roughly-carved wood block. The black-and-white print was made using one block, whereas the layered color version was printed using several blocks.
