Waiter

1767-1768
Workshop of John Carter II (English (active London), active from c. 1768)
In the eighteenth century, servants used small trays like this one, called waiters, to bring glasses of wine to the table (glasses did not sit on the dining table during the meal). Waiters were also used at the tea table, particularly to support teakettles.
